George had an injury to one of his fingers prior to the game. During the game the top of his finger was more or less ripped off. It was sewn back but he had to go to see a specialist yesterday (Monday). Don't know the outcome just yet but he told me the worse case scenario was that they would have to amputate the top of his finger. Will keep you updated.

I bet that's a sore point, I wonder where the finger of blame lies with that. Sounds a bit painful to me, hope he makes a full recovery, luckily he's still got plenty left and it shouldn't affect him too much.

Well wish him all the best from me Josie!

For me, George is one of the real unsung heroes in our side. He really helps to keep the teams shape in attack and defence. He never shirks taking the ball up in our own half and is brave in defence - especially on the occasions when he has played injured. When the fight kicked off on Sunday, he was straight in and I remember last season that when Matt King started to have a pop at Sam he soon discouraged him! He may not make many length of the fields runs anymore; however it is surely no coincidence that we have twice gone on to lose two games that we were winning after he has left the field.

The option on his contract was dependent on him playing a certain number of games this year. As he has only missed a couple this year, does anyone know if he has played enough and is planning on staying? I for one, really hope he does. I don't see him playing every game next year; but if we are considering keeping Deacon on as cover in the halves then keeping George is a no brainer.

My question is how did it happen? Studs / blades are supposedly checked before matches and nothing should be sharp enough to cause such damage.

I'm thinking the exact same question.

Studs can do this...have seen it happen before. When the players are getting up to play the ball and the defenders getting up, the attacking player put his arm out to get stability and the defender just wanders onto it and puts a lot of pressure on it. If it's at the end, there is less holding it on in a way and it can just rip...

I can't see anything malicious in this one somehow

The injury had already occurred before the game, I believe an accident with a lawnmower that sliced the top of his finger. It was stiched up and he wasnt even going to play earlier in the week. He must have just aggravated it at some point in the game.

That sounds more likely Dobby.

Yes any stud can do it given the correct angle/pressure etc... very nasty injury we will miss George very much... look what happened when Marsh and Pryce hooked up?

Hopefully I can see Goulding in the centre playing with Roberts...

Yes George's cover defense was missed when he came off. He comes across as more of a defensive player, & when he gets the opportunity to attack he can & does.Like to see Goulding
pair in the centers with Pat,& Gleeson if he's back, with Roberts. Sam is playing way better as Full Back, he seems to be enjoying it there as well, for a small guy.Prefer Sam than Roberts at FB.
