Better support this year.

Post by ian.birchall »

At the end of the regular season for 2004 the Warriors totalled 177135 spectators at an average of 12653/match, a 23% improvement on last year but still some 3100/game less than the Whinoes.
Only 3 matches failed to break the 5 figure mark, London, Huddersfield and Wakefield compared to 7 matches in 2003, now we just have to break last seasons playoff record against Stains to make Mo's year even happier.

Cosidering the difference in population between Wigan & Leeds, that's a pretty respectable figure.
Maybe we're finally getting over the "Central Park" factor that saw our our crowds drop so much.
can't really say it's success, or more attractive rugby, that's bringing them back.
Hope these new marketing guys can build on the increase for the next few seasons, and get us back to the 14k+ average of the CP/winter era

its always nice to see us getting more support.the only problem is even if we got a 200% increase in our crowds we still couldn't spend the money that brings. we must start to win some silverware very soon to keep the fans happy.but how do you do that when you are restricted at every step.you cant spend more that 1.8 million you can't have more than 20 players earning more than 20 thousand pounds.even if you are no where near the salary cap! im afraid the game i love is being spoiled by red tape.

GeoffN, not to be defeatist, we could outpull Leeds before with our nationwide as opposed to city support so we should be aimimg to do that again.
