A tip from me. The Lowry Shopping Outlet Car Park. Park there, have a browse and keep the Mrs happy then have something to eat or buy something and you can get your ticket redeemwed for up to 6 hours FREE. Not far to walk, car safe, minimal if any cost.

Plenty Man U fans do likwise

If you want free street parking , better parking in the Trafford Park village area , ( it`s the business area behind the Trafford Park hotel ).
Try and avoid the areas off Chester Road and Talbot Road as you`ll be stuck in a traffic jam for at least an hour after the game .
A good secure car park is the school at the junction of Chester Road and Davyhulme Road East , turn left when leaving and you`ll miss most of the traffic.
Both locations are about a ten minute walk to the ground , any nearer you`ll be stuck in horrendous traffic jams .

alternatively park at trafford centre and jump on either stagecoach 250 service or stagecoach X50 service, they both go past old trafford and only take 14-20 mins to get there.

not sure, but most people seem to spend at least 4 hours in trafford centre, so no way of checking really.
