Can hardly use Finch & Roberts. One has never played for us and the other has done nothing since his freak injury. As for Deacs, big loss but injuries happen in games!

If fit Finch would have definitely started and while I didn't get to any of the friendlies I was under the impression Roberts was looking very sharp. Had Roberts been picked/available we could have had a back on the bench so when Deacon did go off we didn't have Lockers playing in the halves (and not at 13 which is equally detrimental to the team as him pretending to be a half back).

Roberts was replaced by Charnley who,IIRC, wasn't in the original 19. The opportunity for a back on the bench was always an option!
