Attendances + or - at the start of season?

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Attendances + or - at the start of season?

Post by ancientnloyal »

Can't really say much to be honest but quite a few interesting attendances for the first 7 home games (or first proper round of games)

Winners:

Bradford v Wigan: 15,348 (+6,104...) ((+3,393 on highest last year))

Catalans v Wakefield: 7,500 (+2,445...) ((Corresponding game last year was Catalans lowest gate of 2010))

Warrington v Hull KR: 10,899 (+1,683..) ((Game last year was Wolves' lowest gate of season))

Salford v St Helens: 5,929 (+244...)

Castleford v Giants: 5,992 (+67 on 2010)

-----------------------------------------------------------
Losers

Harlequins v Crusaders: 1,766 (-615...) ((Lowest gate for 2010 was 2,330

Hull FC v Leeds: 12,513 (-3,695...)((Hull v Leeds 2010 saw Hull's second highest gate))

Looking bad for Harlequins if their first home match attracts 600 less supporters than their lowest gate of 2010... which was Catalans... and crusaders had about 50 fans to add to the kitty. Looking bad at Hull FC also, you'd expect a bumper crowd but seem to have lost 4,000 fans. Well done to Bradford for their effort and shows there is a strong support for Catalans even with their building work.

Great initiative by Bradford to get their fans back - that £60 promotion has really worked. Mind you, there weren't many of them left by the end...

I guess much depends on when the fixture takes place. Sometimes you are comparing fixtures played on very different days, different times of the year, televised / untelevised.

For many fans this was Rd1 which traditionally attracts more fans.

Irrespective, Bradford must be incredibly pleased.

Tis obvious that the first game attracts the big crowds, unless it's a derby... Crusaders v Leeds last year for example.

1,700 is ridiculous though with a decent team this year (so far)

I heard Rock radio from Manchster last weekend whilst up visiting relatives, they were giving away tickets for Salford, not as competition prizes, just go to the website and we'll give you a ticket.

Looked like Saints were outnumbered by Wire fans last night.

Well Warrington is nearer to Widnes, not by much I admit, but still more of a home tie for Wire. :)
