LEAGUE'S JUST SUPER

They might be preparing for the opening round of the English Premier League but Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand and Newcastle's Joey Barton were glued to their television sets last weekend watching the Challenge Cup semi-final between Wigan and St Helens. ''John Charnley is one jet heeled kid…go Wigan!!!! Sam Tomkins is my favourite player - elusive #rugbyleague,'' tweeted Ferdinand. Barton, who is on the outer at Newcastle after attacking club management on Twitter, tweeted at the kick-off: ''Wigan V Saints, proper game…game on''. And then at full-time: ''this is why Super league is best sport on tele''.

Cyclist Bradley Wiggins is also a rugby league fan and was at the game against stains, my mate spotted him walking from the ground and he confirmed who he was and said that he is a big Wigan fan.

Ryan giggs is also a massive rugby league fan and used to play when he was younger. I believe Roy keane is too

Keane was at the Quarter Final against Wire, he was sat near the Chairman of Wire (Goes in our Local Cricket club) who said Keane was out of his seat shouting when charnley scored the length of the field try!
It's good to have an end to journey towards, but it's the journey that matters in the end.

Hasn't Paul Scholes been to DW Stadium to watch Wigan, it was still JJB back then though.

dont forget Freddie Flintoff and Ricky Hatton are Wigan fans as well. quite a big sports fan base

Giggs father was a very gifted stand off for Swinton.
