Re: Coaching situation is crazy!
There are a few things that come to mind whilst reading this thread.
1. This season is not over yet, infact we are at the most important part of the season and Madge is our Coach. Why worry who will be coach next season. Surely if the Club announce the new coach it will detract from the job in hand. As long as the new coach knows who he is and what he has to do to continue the exceptional job Madge has done surely thats all that matters.Madge is our coach until the end of the season.
2. Whilst as fans we are important to the club, it does not give us a divine right to know all the ins and outs of the business of Wigan Warriors.
3. Just concentrate on what we do well. We are the best supported club in Super League the rest will take care of itself. The club are well known for playing their cards close to their chest and will make the announcement when they think is the right time. Remember something similar happened when Nobby went and fans were in a frenzy because they didnt know what was happening. The media did a good job of stirring things up. It didnt make any difference and look what happened! We got Michael McGuire.
Please be patient, give the lads the support and I am sure after we win the GF we will be told who our next leader will be.

Re: Coaching situation is crazy!
So we announce our coach and suddenly 10,000 fans want to congratulate him. When do they see him, match day, I could see a distraction there, Harris has finished his season hense his job. Totally different scenario, Jim
Re: Coaching situation is crazy!
Might mean those that that need to know do and those that don't will find out later.

I completely disagree with everything above.Red Hot Mama wrote:There are a few things that come to mind whilst reading this thread.

It is all invalidated because Harris has gone to the media with the story.
In particular I find the second point about not having a divine right well wide of the mark because while we have no right to know things like who earns what I think it is an extremely patronising stance to treat fans as ignoramuses who have no right to know anything which is basically how I see this. We are the paying customers and part of being a supporter means we do IMO get a right to be told by the chairman who the coach is not the media.
The way IL handled both the situation with Noble and now with Madge/Wane and Harris was and is very poor PR.
The media thinks certain things are a done deal, IL knows if they are or not. The players may well know.
We, the paying customers are last to know and this is despite IL saying he would not keep fans in the dark over such things.
Don't forget until South's announced Madge as coach IL said nothing about that either.
He seems to reacts only when his hand is forced. Well in this case Harris going to the media ought to get IL clarifying the situation because if he doesn't it just fuels speculation. We all know Madge is leaving. We all know we will have a new coach. Josie tells us it is Wane.
Announce it for God's sake!

Re: Coaching situation is crazy!
With the Harris situation not being a done deal maybe the whole thing is pure spec anyway. NRL is coming to a conclussion. Maybe like Madge we are getting another coach from down under but that is still not a done deal. Falls through Wane gets the job with Harris, Goes ahead we hav Oz with Wane and Harris is back to the drawing board. I think we have another twist to go yet.

You may be the paying customer to o2 for your mobile phone Dave dont mean they will text you when they have employed somebody new or when they have fired someone! Nor will they tell you when they replace a director or the chairman, once you have your product they wont send you promos for similar tarrifs which are cheaper than the one your on.
I shop at Asda, and same as above really, how dare they keep me in the dark I am a paying customer!
I am a paying member of the rac my mortgage is with Halifax, I bank with them too I pay edf for my energy have sky tv (I dont get to choose which programs they broadcast) united utilities for my water and wigan council for my council tax etc etc etc . . . . . the theme is the same throughout I pay them my money for their product but I dont get told the ins and outs and who runs the places etc etc etc etc!
People need to get over this we are the last to know line and live with things how they are, if you want to be one of the first in the know apply for a job with IL or move in with CP

O2 is not a sports team so that is not a valid analogy.29wes28 wrote:

That said any company aims to keep its customers happy or is very foolish so while O2 doesn't need to tell customers who the boss is to do that it will make sure it keeps them informed about it's tarriff's and how it responds to complaints etc. It won't let the media do it for them. It's just good PR but the PR requirements for a sports team and a corporation such as O2 are different. I would have thought that obvious.
And the theme is wrong throughout for the reasons explained above.Nor will they tell you when they replace a director or the chairman, once you have your product they wont send you promos for similar tarrifs which are cheaper than the one your on.

Nope. Some of us can tell the difference between a sports club and Asda and what that entails from a PR point of view.People need to get over this we are the last to know line and live with things how they are, if you want to be one of the first in the know apply for a job with IL or move in with CP![]()

Josie is now virtually the press officer for the club and it really should not be so.
Re: Coaching situation is crazy!
Exactly. The information is out there. IL has to be dragged kicking and screaming to confirm it as he was over Madge and Souths.TWO EYED WARRIOR wrote:We are missing the point of what I am saying.
Why should the fans find out off social networking sites or other media outlets
Daveo eluded to the point that IL is always in the back foot and then forced into cryptic denials or hurried statements released on the web
Quite.Don't think anyone is criticizing or even saying they are not supporting the club because of this however it is a weakness of the club that could simply be rectified.
Don't mushroom manage the fans !
