Wakefield have sacked winger Greg Johnson after he was jailed for two years.
Johnson, 26, who made 11 appearances for the Wildcats in Super League this year, pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court to sexual assault and grievous bodily harm.
The incident took place in a Huddersfield bar in February. He was a Huddersfield player at the time but was released by the Giants shortly afterwards.
In a statement, Wakefield said: "Johnson, who joined the club in April until the end of the 2011 season, has been immediately dismissed by the club following being found guilty of the incident which took place in February 2011, before he joined the Wildcats.
"No further comment will be made regarding this matter."

WILDCATS SACK JAILED JOHNSON
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
