Davico to be released?

Davico's injury is a torn pectorial muscle - a re-occurence of his injury from last season. It was originally though to take 6 months to heal, but hasn't.
Maurice has been talking about it, and reading between the lines, he seems like he might want to get rid:
"We actually signed Luke in June last year, several weeks before he
injured the muscle in August.
"We relied on the medical
advice given to us at the time and this was that he would take six months to fully recover.
"He has had the six months, but clearly the injury has not stood up to the test of a full contact match.
"The lad has been desperately unlucky and it's a real shame because otherwise he's very fit and a genuinely likeable
character who has gone down a storm with the youngsters and the rest of the players since he arrived.
"But it's not looking good."
We could have a record for the shortest Wigan playing career on our hands here!

Another part of the story was also quite telling:-
Wigantoday.net wrote
Wigan are still waiting for the result of a consultant's report before deciding on what course of action to take Lindsay will meet with the injured player to discuss what to do next after the specialist's report has been made available and digested early next week.
.
From this it seems like his future at Wigan will be decided very soon, but a meeting between the player and The Boss sounds a bit ominous to me.
Incidentally, he's lasted longer than Mark Hilton![/url]

Did Hilton get on the field? I was thinking along the lines of the shortest playing career in minute on the pitch!

Deja vu or what !! I can't believe this is happening, the eve of a new season and again we are contending with injury problems before the season has even started.
The Farrell injury is bad enough but now there's even a possibility that we may need to look for a new prop with the season just 2 weeks away.
I feel so sorry for Davico, his comments throughout the close season showed that he was really looking forward to doing a job for the Warriors.
Our problem is now who do we get in at this late stage if Luke's injury does turn out to be seriously long term.

It's a harsh world, but send him home and put the money to better use. A season can be won and lost in the first 4 months. Confidence is a truely wonderful or evil thing.

Heard from a very good source Mo is trying to settle Davico’s contract and ship him back down under, pity cos he’s got a good attitude which some overseas players lack. Also heard Vaealiki and Seu Seu aren’t fully fit and Betts doesn’t want to play them this weekend, this is what happens when you sign players without full medicals.

Pure madness to me signing injured players, it makes no business sense.
You wouldn't buy a box of CDs knowing they were all scratched would you? So why do we buy injured players?

It just seems like mo's plan has backfired, hope nothing else goes wrong!

When Davico was signed he wasn't injured. He was signed in June and picked this up later and the club was told it would heal in 6 months.
From ML's words clearly he thinks it has not healed and therefore given the length of the time he was and will be out he will try and terminate his contract.
As others have said this is a real shame for the player and I also thought he showed a great attitude which reminded me a great deal of David Furner.
That said we can't keep him on hogging a 20/20 space if he is out for the season. It is another indictment of the 20/20 if you ask me because if that did not exist we could keep him on (if we could fit another player under the overall salary cap) while he recovered but with 20/20 places so precious ML must be trying to see how he can replace him.

Theres always the loan option! Quentin Pongia started off like that and Wigan loved him!
