Magic Weekend 2012

Post by Gizmo_Edwards »

Super League's Magic Weekend, a full round of fixtures which kicked off the 2011 season in Cardiff, is expected to revert to a mid-season date in May next year and may switch to the Grand Final city of Manchester. However, the Etihad Stadium is thought to be a more likely venue than Old Trafford.

Hello "Manchester Magic"

Chris Irvine, The Times journalist just tweeted....

"The "state secret" now out: Manchester Magic on cards for May 2012 at Eithad - #rugbyleague has permission to tear up old pitch there"

I shall continue to boycott this ridiculous event. You should play everyone once at home and once away.

If the crowds remain as embarrassingly low as they have been outside the sport's heartland will they finally give up on the idea?

Why would City want this, the whole reason behind the magic weekend was that the city it was in threw loads of money at the RFL as it knew every hotel nearby would be full and all the pubs would be filled.

holding it in Manchester would just mean everyone would go for the day.

They should have a magic weekend and play the first proper round of the cup there. It will give the smaller clubs a chance to attend a big event and it would be a match most were paying extra for anyway.

or just scrap it. :)

They will do that when they run out of places that start with a letter "M".
