Wembley Statue
Proposal to have rugby league statue at Wembley, see

Who better than Sid Abram, the first try scorer at Wembley in 1929? He's buried in Hindley Cemetery.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Wembley Statue
Shaun Edwards achieved the most there so probably him. I'd like to see Martin Offiah though. Him in full flight was the most recognizeable sight in RL. Find a still of him him rounding Alan Tait in 1994 and work from that.

Thanks for that, Josie - I'm a bit old for this computer lark
I thought of Sid Abram because of his link with 1st final at Wembley. If we're talking wingers in full flight, it would have to be Billy Boston and/or Tom Van Vollenhoven well ahead of Martin Offiah. See, I told you I was old!

. . . or Leroy Rivett, first player to score 4 tries in a Wembley final? [Only joking!]

Re: Wembley Statue
Preston NE have a good water feature bronze with TOm Finney IIRC. An image from the watersplash final could be used similarly (not Don Fox).
However, Edwards re wins etc. I hate reading people say oh he represents RU too now. So what and why should we be ashamed/apologetic

Re: Wembley Statue
Saw a good suggesiton on another site, some sort of statue of a ball, and it could somehow incorporate the name of every Lance Todd winner on it, and future years names could also be added. Thought that was a good idea, but personally would rather see one of Edwards and Offiah celebrating in Wigan shirts for every visitor to see that WE are rugby league!
