Sam On Wales Win

Post by josie andrews »

Warriors full back Sam Tomkins grabbed four tries in England's 42-4 success over Wales at Leigh on Saturday to get Steve McNamara's men off to a winning start in the Gillette Four Nations.

Looking back at the game Sam said,

"It was nice, it's always good crossing the tryline,"

"I just got in the right place at the right time. There were any number of lads who could have scored.

"After a tough hit-out last week against France there were areas where we needed to improve and we did that for the majority of the game," he said.

"Wales played a lot on emotion. They were saying this was the game they could shock people and we knew it would be a tough test.

"We're under no illusions. We're not going to be scoring 30-odd points every week in this competition.

"We're going to have to get better and better throughout the next two or three weeks if we are going to be at Elland Road picking the trophy up."

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
