Stains have been gifted three tries back to back. Missed knock on, try. Player off side, try. Ball steal penalty where there were none. Try. What a start to the season. SAME OLD.

Now another try Deliberate play of the ball after held, not simultanious, try. You could not script it.

dont forget down the other end, try disallowed for not grounding but lets ignore the attacker having his head ripped off.

To say he's the best ref we've got he was pretty poor last night. In fact, if I didn't know better I'd say the game was rigged. Salfords disallowed try when Dixon and Lafranche were strangling the Salford player should have been a penalty try. He was stopped from a sure score by St Helens employing foul tactics. Every 50/50 went against the reds.

Wasn't the lack of a penalty for the head shots down to Smith, the video ref?

I don't know, but can the video ref only check what the onfield ref asks for? Silverwood only asked to check grounding for Salford's disallowed try, at the other end he was asking video ref to check all sorts of things to penalise the Reds, it was very noticeable :doz:

He got Charnley's opening effort wrong as well. Look at the pre-match build up by Sky and you will see a very similar try awarded to Leeds!

It looked pretty blatant and ruined what could have been a good game for the neutral.

There were repeated infringements by saints as always and they were just ignored; while Salford were pinged at every opportunity.

Clearly the RFL didn't want saints to lose the first game at their new ground.

We aren't neutrals in a Saints game!

However, I thought it was the video ref who swung the game, not Silverwood. Refs can't be perfect and can't see everything, but video refs take enough time about it that they should see it all and give the same decision everyone watching is expecting - Not giving a penalty (i'm not convinced he was going to score so no pen try) for Salford but giving copious benefit of doubt to Saints. I wasn't convinced Roby got his try down either but that was given straight away.
