Vikings versus Warriors ticket update

Post by josie andrews »

In advance of the Widnes versus Wigan game on Sunday 11 March, the Vikings have today received a request from the Warriors. Having almost sold out of their initial 2,000 allocation of tickets, they are now seeking more of the same.

In an amazing show of support off the pitch, should sales continue at their current rate, this will lead to stadium bosses opening up a second stand to house the large number of visiting supporters.

On the pitch, Shaun Wane's Warriors are flying high in Stobart Super League XVII and after the opening five rounds are currently sitting in second place on the league ladder.
With a playing roster including six members of Steve McNamara's recently announced England Elite Training Squad and one member of the England Knights set-up, it promises to be the Vikings' toughest test to date.

The black and whites and cherry and whites have gone to battle on many occasions through the years and following the Vikings' return to the top-flight, Sunday's game promises to open yet another chapter of classic games between the two famous old clubs.

Alongside the 17 men from each team giving it their all on the i-pitch, an important role is also required from the fans, affectionately known as the 18th man.

And, this is where YOU can help...

Tickets for the game are now on sale at the Vikings Superstore at pre-game discounted prices, so there's no better time to invite a friend, family member or work colleague along and treat them to a game featuring two of rugby league's most decorated teams.

Further to this and acting as a curtain-raiser to the main event, the Vikings and Warriors U20's sides will also go head-to-head in the Valvoline Cup competition. This game will kick-off at 12.45pm with selected turnstiles opening from 12.30pm.

When two towns collide there can only be one winner and you'd be a fool to miss this one!

Advance ticket prices and points of entry for the game are listed below, with match day ticket prices detailed in brackets.

North Stand (Any Turnstile)
Adult £20 (£22)

Conc £13 (£15)
Jun £11 (£13)

South East - Block A-D (Turnstiles S1 & S2)
Adult £20 (£22)
Conc £13 (£15)

Jun £11 (£13)

South West - Block E-H (Turnstiles SW1 & SW2)
Adult £20 (£22)

Cash turnstiles for the South Stand will be in operation on match day but there will be no cash turnstiles for the North Stand, so purchasing a ticket in advance is an absolute must as they are likely to sell fast.
For those unable to purchase a North Stand ticket in advance, any remaining tickets will be available at the Widnes Vikings Ticket Office, situated on the South Stand side of the stadium from 12 noon on Sunday 11 March.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

"Sunday's game promises to open yet another chapter of classic games between the two famous old clubs."

Define 'classic'!

I'll settle for a big win and none of our lads getting too much carpet burn!

Some players are having to buy new rounded-stud boots for the pitch - just hope they cope with new ones

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall

The West stand, Wigan end, has now sold out. Tickets are now being sold for the East stand.
