Just read on Wigan Today that he has suffered another injury - hairline fracture to his knee I think.
He is out of contract at the end of this season.

Out until August - so unless he really hits the ground running or we have a lot of injuries, it seems unlikely that he will play more than a couple of games for us this season.
Is he still counted on the cap? If so then in the days of a restrictive salary cap, we just can't afford a senior player to be sat on the sidelines for over one and a half seasons.

I dont think we will see him in a Wigan shirt again as I dont think he will be fit enough this season and I dont think that he should be retained.

Sadly prior to his injury Stuart was showing just how good he's been at prop.Unfortunately it appears that injury will bring his career to an abrupt end though he may prove me wrong. If indeed is career is brought to an end I will personally thank him for giving his best to our club.

The microfracture is a deliberate surgical treatment - they go in and cause a fracture to stimulate healing.

I heard he was at the Bulls answering calls in their office or something the other day...maybe he should be on their cap instead! ha.

Sad and disappointing end(if so) to his Wigan playing days

The annoying aspect is that many of Fielden's injuries are self inflicted by his refusal to follow rehab instructions and repeatedly trying to do too much, too soon.
