The problem seems to be trying to get him to put that much effort in consistently. Since he's only 21 there's time for improvement if he's willing to put the work in.
I was definitely impressed with him today and I'd say as a cheap cover player with potential he was worth signing. If the choice was trying to outbid Hull to keep O'Carroll or signing Dudson then the right decision has been made.
One thing O'Carroll does not lack is the right attitude. He is right out of the Micky Mac, Hansen mould. Players like that are worth a lot.
Dudson did well today and could be a very good player but he won't make it at Wigan if he has the wrong attitude. I think its pretty easy to spot players who will graft and graft and graft to be good players. Hansen, Micky Mac, J Tomkins (wish he were still here), Farrell and Lockers stand out attribute is hard work. I love these kind of players.
Hopefully this work ethic will rub off on Dudson and if it does he could be very, very good. He has got to want it though and be willing to out the effort in. His ex-Crusader compatriot Flower has got the right attitude. Doesn't think he's made it just because he has signed for Wigan. I am not suggesting Dudson does think that but you get the point. Hard work is the key to Dudson's future here.

Dudson did fine. He still needs lots of work re fitness and understanding. I was equally impressed by Spencer though.

When he first came on I thought Stains (Robey) would have targetted Dudson and we might have struggled a bit. Like most on here I was pleasantly suprised by his no thrills attitude. He gave his best and thats all we can ask. If he can continue like this we have an excellent all round pack of forwards with his inclusion.

Just judging him on yesterday I think he made a very promising start to his Wigan career, long may it continue.

Well impressed. Thought he had a very good, steady game. He's no Hoffman but who ever decided to sign made the right decision.

I haven't seen a Prescott theme so I please break into the Dudson theme to say what a magnificent contribution he made over such a long period, making all the hard yards and taking a lot of stick

And his obligatory ball spill didn't do too much damage!

I know what you mean here - when he takes an early drive up my heart is in my mouth for a knock on.

I liken it to taking off on an aeroplane. Tend to be on edge until I hear the undercarriage go back in. Then I know I'm safe!
