Wigan Warriors forward Gareth Hock has lost his appeal against the two-match ban he received following his dismissal against St Helens on Sunday.

Hock, one of three players sent off by referee Ben Thaler following a brawl at a scrum, was given the suspension when he appeared in front of the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary panel last night.

Today he appealed against the severity of the sentence but the original decision was upheld and he was forced to surrender a £200 bond on top of a £300 fine.

Hock, who has been an ever-present up to now, will miss Friday’s game with champions Leeds Rhinos and Wigan’s trip to Catalan Dragons the following Saturday.

He was not named in Wigan coach Shaun Wane’s 19-man squad, which includes youngsters Rhodri Lloyd and Jack Murphy who are hoping to make their debuts.

With Paul Prescott, Harrison Hansen and Ben Flower all injured, Wane has also called up Tom Spencer, Logan Tomkins and Dom Crosby, who have just eight Stobart Super League appearances between them.

Well that just sums the RFL up, hate Wigan and will do anything to hinder us, pathetic excuse for a governing body.

Can anyone explain to me why McCarthy-Scarsbrook got away with all this and why Wilkin was warned on more than one occasion but didn't even get a yellow? :eusa4:
No surprise then that Gaz will be free just in time to play for England if chosen - I think he should find some small injury that requires urgent minor surgery aand do what Wellens did to the Wigan fans on Sunday and wave two fingers at the RFL. Not that I am annoyed about all this you understand!

It's not that Gaz has got a ban that's annoyed me, it's the fact that LMS has strolled away from the melee scot free when he was as involved as anyone else in front of the panel.

May be a childish I'll take my ball home attitude but I think Wigan should tell the RFL to stick their Exiles game due to the risk of losing players from our already "depleted" squad.

Or a touch of the old Wigan flu, I hear it's rife during June and July. :eusa13:

there were no grounds left to appeal on once the RFL had decided that LMS was not guilty of throwing a punch and that Hock had not been provoked, and they further took into account his poor record,
don' we all just believe that they looked at this impartially !!!!!!!

Lets go on Friday & beat team RFL at Headingley & show their bosses, they may kick us when we are down with injuries & beat us with bans & fines but we will always come back stronger from the adversity they put before us.

We ARE Wigan Warriors

We WILL overcome

We will NEVER give up

We will NEVER surrender

Oh Josie, I was tearing up reading that. Only needed Land Of Hope & Glory playing and I would have been

A very Churchillian speech. :D
