Exiles strain on Wigan Players

Out of the 43 players in the two combined England and exiles squads:-

Wigan have the most (9 players)
Saints (7)
Leeds and Wire (6)
Catalan and Hudd (5)

This is before some of Wires get pulled out with broken finger nails.

I am sorry to be pessimistic but all i care about is Wigan RL and do not want injuries or fatigue affecting our season. There should be a limit to how many players you can provide for the 2 squads.

We have so many key, pivotal players in the squads also. Finch, hock, leuluai, sam, SOL, Lima, Mossop, Charnley and Carmont etc.

I would be delighted if a few of our lads got "cunningham-itis" and had to miss the game and be fine for the rest of the season.

The only reason i watch this game is to make sure all our boys come through!

The only way the British rugby league players will improve and become competitive is to play in intensive matches like these. If you were to ask any of the Warriors players if they wanted to withdraw from these matches I believe they would say no.
When England fail to contribute,in the World Cup(which they will)may I suggest the only players to standout will be Burgess,Graham,et al oh and Sam of course.

Could not care less! English Wigan players do not need to be around the idiot McNamamara for even a second.
The RFL do not pay their wage, Wigan do. The club should, IMO, tell the RFL where to get off and prevent any players participating in this pointless "series".
What hapens to our club sould all, most, indeed, even one, pick up a season ending injury in this farcical pair of games set up by SLY TV? Who will compensate the club then? Will we be able to replace them by suspending their pay from the Salary cap? will we hell. Pointless farce.

Agreed Exile, to sum this up Platt, while the RFL is controlled by the current set of muppets (and Hetherington) and the English Team is controlled by McNamara then I want all Wigan players as far away from the setup as possible, yes I am proud to be English and want us to compete but until the correct structure is in place then we will always be light years behind.

If we had more England players than anyone else in the squad for an International then we would have to put up with it. It would after all be a great compliment to our club.

The trouble is we are having to supply players for the opposition as well because this is a manufactured game.

Some of these players such as George would not be playing if we were having a mid season game v NZ for example. I doubt Finch would be representing Australia and of course if it was V France we would only miss our English players.

So I am dead against it because it can't be right for us to have to supply 9 players to this game.

As a concept it is also pretty naff IMO. While I take your point the players may want to play, the odd game isn't going to make a jot of difference to how well England are prepared.

Hi everyone,

Been looking at this forum for years so thought it was about time I commented. I absolutely agree with Exile, I'd rather have Doc Murray as England coach than McNamara. Until the RL get their act together (both domestically and internationally) I couldn't care less if England get beaten 100-0 by Andorra. As Gizmo says, as long as Cherry and White comes through OK, that's all I am bothered about.

As much of a compliment as this is to Shaun Wane and Ian Lenagan regarding the fantastic jobs being done at our club at the minute, it just isn't right that we should have 9 players involved. The players are professionals and will give it their all of course, I just think that its a bit of a silly idea. Another example of the RL failing to grasp the direction our sport should be heading by poorly mimicking the Aussies. Forget mimicking the Aussies!

Anyway, rant over. I'm off to watch some youtube videos of Super Kel.

My post was not about the RFL/Manager set but the benefits of high intensity matches, needed for our "international" players.I personalley think it's great to have these players selected to represent their country.
If we as a rugby league nation, are to improve/progress then in stead of a blinkered view, take a look at the bigger picture.
Before I pass-on I would like my country to win something, and not have a trophy cabinet full of 2nd/3rd/4th
placed trophies.

Why would we have to put up with it? This is not Yawnion where the national body have some say because they pay part of the wages. The RFL have no right to say which players have to be available to the international side. The players are contracted to their club, and only their club.
If Wigan decide not to allow any players play international games, nothing could be done about it.

I can see your point Platt, it would be great to see our players do some damage on the world stage. It just feels like too much is at stake at club level for the potential benefits. That's just my own point of view, though.

I'm sure if we started dominating the Aussies I might reconsider!
