Half time at leigh. Current score line leigh 24-0 wigan
Talyor played the first 20 mins with gill dudson. He did not set the world on fire. He let him self down with his 1 on 1 defence which directly lead to a try.

It wad a young acadamy team really with gelling, logan tomkins, crosby, spencer, murphy, lloyd r the only other players with first team experice.

Half time was 20-0

Full time 30-6.

Thats 13 pounds that i won't be getting back.

How did Taylor Hampshire and Powell do?

Hard to see with that score but did anyone stand out?

It was rubbish and a complete waste of £13.

Don't know who picked the team as I never saw Wane on the sideline, but there were to many people out of position. This week we keep hearing that Lloyd has been training with the backs and will get a shot at centre, but then plays him at second row with Burgess at centre.

Gelling looks like he has put 3 stone on and had trouble running and was blowing after 10 mins, he was out on his feet after 25 mins and taken off. Shocking.

Taylor looks a big lad but missed a big tackle 1 on 1 under the posts and let them score, then he went off.

As said before the half back pairing was baffling and therefore we never had any ideas going forward, we hardly made a break, with Leigh running through us on a regular basis.

Positives.... I though the lad Greenwood did ok, and Crosby put it about, but others were poor including Logan who looked slow at dummy half.

Very worrying as quite a few of these are fringe players, would have liked to see some more first teamers playing and not in the stands drinking tea.

cherry.pie wrote:It was a pretty poor game really but the team selection didn't help. They made several breaks down the right hand side exposing Burgess and Gelling. Burgess isn't a particularly good defender so I can't understand why he was played at centre and not on the wing, while Gelling didn't look comfortable defending in the back row either.

But by far the most bizarre choice was playing Carberry at 6. No one in their right mind would think that he'd make a good stand off. I don't know why Powell or Williams didn't play but if they were unavailable fair enough, but Doran can play in the halves and was on the bench. Connor Farrell is skilful enough to play in the halves and has played there before, as has Logan Tomkins.

Instead they stuck Carberry there, he looked like a fish out of water and Ryan Hampshire was left to do absolutely everything when the team was attacking, which meant the team wasn't the least bit threatening in attack until Carberry went off.

Connor Farrell seemed to create some problems when he came on towards the end but he didn't seem to get much game time.
Baffled by the Carberry selection at 6, his best position by far is Hooker where he should have played and as you say Tomkins could have played at 6.

Farrell was on at the start of and played the whole of the 2nd half and looked a lot happier/ more comfortable when he moved to loose. I think it was Matt Crow who came on for the last 10 mins and caused the problems, especially when he broke through the middle. Surprised to see him in the squad as he barely got a lookin last season after looking so promising at centre/2nd row in the 2/3 seasons previous.

Really poor THey kept finding gaps down the right hand side of the pitch . We just couldn`t defend against their pace .

Taylor was at fault for the second try dropping off a soft down the middle run.

I did say after 30 minutes that Leigh looked better coached , as they had more idea with the ball and wanted to defend .

We had no idea what to do with ball in hand , We had two first team props and several fringe players , we looked outclassed by a Championship team .

This doesn`t bode well for the season ahead .

How anyone can think that the game will have a bearing on the season when 17 first choice players were not involved and most of the team were young academy players is beyond me.
