GM Police to close JJB

says the BBC. I would hope that this is only for the Lactics games since I do not remember seeing any police at the Warriors games apart from the odd few when we are playing the Scousers.
For once I have to say I feel for the football fans in their delusion, if GMP are really charging £43995 for policing the Leeds match and PrestonNE only get charged £7700 for the same game by Lancashire Constabulary then perhaps Whelan does have fair grounds for moaning

Yes, I read some very similar interviews from Whelan. It does seem they are getting a hard time of it from the police. I can't remember exact figures but DW quoted quite a few police costs and they were massive relative to other clubs.

if the fans where not at the jjb on a sat afternoon they would still need policed. DW. should only pay for cops inside the ground...........at the going rate

this is the message ive wanted to hear for a while.

The threat is to remove the certificate of the JJB STADIUM. Not Wigan Athletics safety certificate, not Wigan Warriors safety certificate but the certificate for the ground no matter who plays.

Why you happy to hear that ??

He needs to compare the policing costs for Latics with other GMP teams not ones policed by Lancashire Constabulary.

The way they charge can be very different. I read somewhere that GMP have police on overtime to police football matches which will make it more expensive. Lancashire Constabulary may just pay regular wages.

But the point is he does need to compare what GMP charge other teams. I don't know if there is another team in the same division as Latics in the GMP area. If there is he needs to find out what they are charged whrn they play Leeds.

I just hope this doesn't affect our home games.

Assuming these figures to be correct (what is your source of info?) then Wigan are being hard done by.

Latics might well be hard done to, but the Reebok is'nt as close to the town centre as the JJB. Also does anyone know the steps that the club itself take for added security. Most premiership clubs, if not all, have all the ground monitored by cctv.
I was at a football game at the Reebok a few years when it started to kick off. The stewards removed the lads who started it within minutes.
