I listened to some Aussies today commenting on the NRL and slating Super League saying that Widnes was equivalent to an amateur team in Australia and that Sam was no where near the best fullback in the world.

There are rumours about the structure of Super League changing and this has got to happen for RL to survive in this country. I am not sure the proposals are right but change has to be made to stop these one sided games.

As I said in another place, look how little discussion there is regarding another dominant performance and topping the league. We always joked about such games being almost friendlies, but I do think that corner has been turned and it's difficult to justify going if you aren't a season ticket holder.

We can already see our ST numbers took a hit in the close season, these 12,000 odd crowds were a rarity even against the smaller clubs, now they're the norm. Given we know ST holders are counted regardless, it worries me if we have another drop next season we'll be looking at 11,000, even 10,000 as the regular attendance. I mean, a few years back we went much lower than that so it would be hard nosed to think we couldnt drop back again.


Money and a top to bottom reorganisation of SL could help things substantially. But you tell me where significant investment is coming from, if anything Sky and the BBC will try to drive TV deals down and sell it to their boards as being more prudent in tough economic times. In reality they know the power brokers at RL HQ don't have any chips to play so have to accept whats on the table.

The league structure shoul dbe easier to sort, but does anyone have confidence in the people who would be in charge. Theyve already proven their incompetance while the club owners are happy with the status quo and not being out of pocket.

Dont worry as we can look forward to the forthcoming World Cup, it's this year isn't it. I wasn't sure as all I've heard in the press is the RFU choosing football grounds for their World Cup which is still a year or two off!

At least our crowds are made up of true Rugby League supporters and not bandwagon jumpers.

You need new blood to replace old. Ask any main stream church. As the old die out the new are not coming in to replace them. As you watch the weeds growing round the turnstiles all you will have left is memories it is too late to say "but we were true fans."

We never got out of second gear and won at a stroll. Quite strangely though, I thought Salford played bettter than they did last week against Cas, and that was with only 13 players on the field!
