Much better

Post by MrsLam »

Well done to the lads tonight. Not particulary for the massive scoreline but for not giving up half way through the game and saying thats enough.

Realistically Leigh were never going to beat us but they could have come back, or we could have ended up with a tight match but our lads stuck at it defended and attacked when needed. I know "its only Leigh" but every man on the pitch in cherry and white played absolutely brilliantly tonight, and there did seem to be some nice new moves coming through there. Good match to try them out I think.

Thought despite them never being in it, it was an exciting match to watch and I hope we can improve on this and be confident for next Friday. Still need to be careful of when to pass and when not to, if we do it next week, needless to say Saints will intercept and be up their end of the pitch in no time.

Well done to Danny Tickle well deserved man of the match. Was a bit disappointed at the end when I heard someone saying that "it hadn't been a good match" and that it would be a completely different story next week against Saints. Can't do right can we, if we lose we get slated, if we win by only a couple of points we get slated and if we absolutely hammer a team we get slated. Give the lads a bit of praise where deserved and get behind them instead of having so little faith. I'm not saying by any length that we will go out and do the same next week (great if we did!!) but forget the opposition for a second and take some positives out of the game.

A good 80 minute effort with some nice play.

Bring on the scousers!

Well said, MrsLam!

Good all round performance, I thought. Fair enough, as you say, it was "only Leigh", but nobody else has put more than 40 points past them (yet).

Much better support play, which is what we've been crying out for, and excellent defence.

Most surprising thing? The touch judge actually gave 2 decisions, and even remembered that his flag is not just for going into touch!

Anyone heard news on Carney's injury?

Ref wasn't too bad either, don't think there was much I was going mad at.

I prefer to be positive rather than negative like I was last week, so maybe this is where we step up a gear and go out and beat some of the top teams too.

There was some really good passes coming from all over the pitch, still a few sloppy ones but maybe we can "polish" up on these. We seemed to want to keep the ball alive a lot too and like you say, this time the support was there making it possible. Tackling is also getting better, the first few matches we were playing tick rugby but we seem to be going in a bit harder, not just in defence but also when we're running at the opposition. I notice one of the penalty kicks didn't go too far down field, is this because we prefer to have a go at running rather than just going for the line? Came off today anyway so I can't complain.

Still buzzing from the game, AND from now arguing with the leythers walking across the bridge with me. Gawd it's so difficult to stay quiet!

i think the ref was very good especially seeing that it was his first superleague game but if he was experienced there should have been atleast one sin-bin!

There should have been yes, I think I was calling for it when they deliberately held down, Dallas. If he'd been able to play the ball quickly, we could have been away.

Yeah, we've certainly had worse refs! I thought he put up with too much spoiling from them, though, I think we'd have seen a yellow card or two from more experienced refs...I doubt their #12 would have stayed on long!
Some of Kev Brown's tackles on their #13 were awesome! The guy was 3 times his size!

We weren't arguing with the Leythers, just winding them up! Great fun! Worth seeing them promoted just for tonight's experience. Fair do's though, they did bring a decent crowd - more than Bradford or Salford did.

every single player on that pitch done the wigan shirt proud tonight. Who ever questions radlinskis abiity as our captain just needs to look at his performence in tonights game. Dallas and Carney im glad to see that they both scored good tries.
The centres played well and vaealiki is a scoring machine. Steve Wild also got stuck in. I think Browny had a brilliant game at stand off and hes begining to make a stake for the shirt himself. I was sad to see Moran limping of as he started to come to life.
All three props played brilliant again. SeuSeu throwing a dummy had me in fits and guisett is really proving to be an excellent signing. And scully his offloads payed off!!!! :D I think it is the best game tickle has had for us as he made alot of yards. Wayne Godwin played fantastic when he came on with his runs from dummy half. Terry Newton was a bit quiet but he was cheeky as always. And Sean O what more can i say. Who needs Faz when you have Lockers? And finally I thaught that was the best ref we have had this season. He was spot on.

Just got Back from the match and i agree with you all!! it was a great match and in my opinion just what we needed to lift our spirits! the lads fully deserved their win tonight and played fantastically! i thought tickle was brilliant and also that kevin brown is definatly one of the greatest youngsters out there! hopefully we can perform just as well (if not better) against saints next week! Also Kris Radlinski was superb! and i'm so happy that carney's fit and well again!!

A good result, but don't get carried away,1 win and suddenly we are a great side again by the sounds of it,a gang of pensioners could have beat Leigh tonight!!!If there a Super League Team then I'm Ellery Hanley!
Will have a better idea just how good we are doing after next weekends games!
I know you lot on here will probably say I'm wrong because a win is a win,but personally I thought they made hard work of the 1st half yet again, and I was'nt on my own either!
Still giving silly penalties away, and at times the tackling is sloppy, still need to improve to turn over the Saints I think.

I think you were watching a different game. There weren't too many penalties given away were there? That's why when they got some in the second half the Leigh fans were ironically cheering.
I'm confused, did you go to the match cause you say

"by the sounds of it" but then you talk about how we made hard work of it? We were singing EASY to them, there was nowt difficult about it and if we made it hard then bloody hell we did do well putting 62 past em.
