I ask the question?

A crowd of 6,327 which included anywhere between 500-750 fans; maybe more suggests it and past non season ticket holding pay by ticket attendances suggest so

What do others think?

I don't have a season ticket and choose my games. I will not go to the semi final. Socio-economic choice. If I could go to all games I would but currently ahead I have Catalans then potentially a final (with a new born end of September)

I think the Cup has always struggled in the modern era I doubt we will see another 20,000+ crowd again sadly. Money just isn't there for a town like Wigan and the people who live there. It's a poor town.

Cp if you remember I raised the issue at the fans focus group.

I said then that the pricing was silly.

We discount SL games and then charge full prices for all CC games. A policy I believe of the RFL.

I think there is a balance as if we discount all games the club gets 3/4 of bugger all!

I just think people have less disposable income to spend on match tickets / travelling / car parking expenses. You put your season ticket money aside if you want to have one (well, I know I do) but its harder to do that for standalone games. I don't go away as much as I would like to and I don't automatically buy cup/playoff/international tickets as much as I did before I moved out of my family home and started to have to pay more bills etc.

Times for a lot of people are harder too. How many people have consistently seen decent pay rises over the last 4-5 years? I would say financial decisions are as much a part of it as anything else.

Is it financial though? Wigan has never been a wealthy Town but Wiganers always found a way to go to the rugby. Totally understand away fixtures, different matter albeit Wigan again has a tradition of outstanding away support.

Tickets are not extortionate; RL is a cheap sport IMO certainly compared to other sports. It would be interesting to see if ticket prices today are lower / the same / higher comparatively taking into account inflation than they were in 1985-1995? I would say lower?

People throw cost whilst watching the game from SKY. Is than not an oxymoron? Maybe we are lazy?

Here is something I will throw into the mix, the British psyche is that if something is in demand and supply of tickets / products scarce British people will queue like no other nation, scramble like no other nation to attend / purchase products.

Another consideration. We Brits are habitual creatures and we respond to historically media marketed events such as Wimbledon. RL has no or minimal media marketing so it has to market itself. Does it do that?

We have 10,000+ season ticket holders but less than 6000 found a reason to attend tonight. Are season holders loyal and lazy? How many of those 10,000+ will not go to Wembley because of finances? How many ppor Wiganers will find the money far more money to go to Wembley?

If finance is such a big issue why have Wigan Athletics attendances grown so much? Why do the likes of Man U, Arsenal attract such huge crowds yet charge such extortionate prices?

Doesn't Glastonbury now charge extortionate prices yet get filled to capacity? How much are Wimbledon tickets? tickets to Ashes tests?

You seriously want to equate an average RL supporter with a toff watching the final on Centre Court?

Are they all Toffs KW? The majority look like us ordinary Joe Public. Sure every event has a prawn sandwich minority but they total what at any event? 1 / 2 / 3 % ?

Without trying to sound too "generalistic" I'm afraid that 99% of those that do frequent Wimbledon ARE financially well off/good disposable income. Check out the costs for refreshments and the hours/days these fans spend watching and it is obvious they do not have a day job in the sense you and I have CP

As for me. I was working and had to resort to listening on the radio. Any problems with that?

I'm sure most of those that did go, were either unemployed, had no pressing commitments the following day (eg school for kids) or were lucky enough to have 9-5 jobs that ensure the ridiculous scheduling (that has no consideration for the paying fan) did not prevent them watching "live"
