Surely this shouldn't be Mcnamara's Waterloo;his selection was spot on,tactics and subs too.Give him his name back(loose the 'banana'which is disrespectful yet amusing ) Sinfield had a captain's game and with a bit of luck victory could have been ours, Sean O'L...bombing a try opportunity. We all know he's a great player and excuses are plentiful BUT would we have been as generous if Sir Kev had bombed it. Perhaps not :exc: Anyway, the coach and players will have learned a great deal from this World Cup which when all is said and done the match was a great advert for our game. BRING ON THE FINAL :exc:
Trouble is I can't help but think we'd have had a great shot at winning the whole thing with a half-back combination of Widdop and Brough, and the inclusion of Atkins in the centres. Two of those players are not available due to the personality of the coach. Imagine adding the creativity, organisation and attacking kicking of Brough to that team - and compare with the decision taken two years ago of going with Sinfield as scrum half. A decision only down to stubbornness after picking Sinfield as captain and then desperately trying to find a position for him to play with.
This is all down to the coach. We should not offer him the role now he is out of contract. Frankly almost anyone else would work.
Also, do we need a full time coach. What does he do 10 months of the year?

He travels the world on expenses, appears on TV to make prepared positive statements and watches Leeds play home and away to decide the backbone of his team.
Part-time. A current NRL coach as Head Coach (perhaps favouring those with Super League experience) with a current SL coach as his assistant (perhaps favouring English candidates).
Sounds like a strong combination that would meet the new requirements of selecting a squad which is increasingly spread across the two competitions.

Your point is not without merit and neither is whelley Warriors(sounds Welsh must be the two L's).But lets not be hasty Mike this team could and with luck should have won this match. My call is for stability and for all the goings on we did do ectremely well. Stick with Mcnamara he will have learned from his experience(or lack of it)

I just don't understand anyone's obsession with Ryan Atkins!!!!
The bloke has worse hands than Cudjoe, he can't tackle the skin of a rice pudding and his running style would make him very easy to tackle for any of the NRL players in this competition (that makes about 95% of them then).
Scoring a few trys against Salford and London Broncos does not make him a "World beater", at best he is nothing more than club class and he and his "talent" should remain at that level
