Wigan Warriors are back in pre-season action on Sunday with a strong side heading to Workington Town for Paul Prescott's Testimonial fixture, 3pm kick off.

Match tickets can be purchased on the day at Derwent Park with Adult Terrace from as little as £10 and Paul has also arranged for a combination of Coach Travel and Match Ticket for just £25.

Paul was forced to retire during 2013 due to injury but has been granted a Testimonial Year by the RFL for his loyal 10 year service to the Club.

Although due to injury, Paul himself will be unable to take to the field he admits it will be a proud moment to lead the Wigan team out on Sunday.

"I am really looking forward to it, obviously it would have been great to play in the game but because of the injury I won't be able to. It will still be a very proud moment, to be granted a testimonial is a massive honour and something which is very humbling.

"The response that has come back from the supporters has been brilliant, the support I have had from all my time at Wigan has been exceptional as has the response to the game. Workington have done a great job in helping the Testimonial Committee to put the game on so it should be a good event. Tickets have been going really well at both Clubs and we should get a good crowd.

"From a Cumbrian perspective it is a top game for them, it is a big draw for Cumbrian fans to see the likes of Matty Smith and Blake Green who were massive performers for Wigan in their double winning season. Other First Team players are going to be involved and it should be a big draw. From a Wigan perspective it will be exciting to see the new signings of Dan Sarginson, Tony Clubb and John Bateman. It is also great to see the young wingers we have got in Joe Burgess and Dom Manfredi who there is a buzz about as they fight for Pat Richards left wing spot.

"I am appreciative of Shaun Wane and the Performance Team for putting out this team and for getting this game on. I have had fantastic support from everyone to get this game on and I am sure Wigan will look to put on a good show for everyone who heads to Derwent Park."

The ticket office should be open tomorrow on saying that I would think you would be able to pay on the gate.

Wigan Squad for Workington

Wigan will be sending a strong First Team squad of players up to Cumbria on Sunday as the Warriors face Workington Town at Derwent Park, 3pm this Sunday, in Paul Prescott's Testimonial game.

Set to make their Wigan debuts are Eddy Pettybourne and Tony Clubb and new additions Dan Sarginson, John Bateman and Jordan James are also set to figure.

Looking ahead to what is certain to be a competitive clash, Head Coach Shaun Wane told us,

"I am looking forward to it, it is a great hotbed of Rugby League and I am taking a good team up there that will play for large periods of the game. As long as I see us improving as we look towards the Huddersfield game and the Roosters game, that is what is important to me and I will be happy.

"I want to see a good performance from us and I want to see the players with good habits in the game. I want to see us improve game by game."

On Paul Prescott who has been a great servant to the Wigan Club, Shaun added,

"I have known Paul since he was a kid when he joined back in 2000. I have worked with him very closely, he is a firey character who always gave 100%. Unfortunately he can't do that anymore, it is sad what has happened that he was forced to retire but he has looked after himself, he has a good education and a good job with us and he deserves a good Testimonial and many Wigan fans to head to the game for him. He has had some terrible pain for the last few years and trained and played through it for this great Club."

At Derwent Park you can pay at the gate but not sure what time the ticket office will be open on Sunday morning if yo wanted to pick tickets up before the game starts.
I live near Workington and got my tickets on Thursday evening. The grandstand had approximately 20 to 30 seats remaining but its only a small stand.
Its a big game for Workington so the car parking at the ground will go quickly as will areas around the nearby harbour side, and football stadium and tescos. A nearby car park called the clofficks is usually a good option which is near Derwent Park stadium, diagonally across the tesco roundabout and behind the big grey council looking office building.
