Wigan boss Shaun Wane left fuming after Warrington Wolves help out the Sydney Roosters

WIGAN are livid after discovering a Super League rival has helped try to wreck their World Club Challenge dream.

Champions Warriors face Sydney Roosters next month in a battle to be crowned club kings of the world.

But Wigan coach Shaun Wane is seething after finding out that Warrington have been helping plot their downfall.

The Wolves spent several days training with the Roosters during their pre-season camp in Australia.

The Warrington and Roosters coaching staff jointly diagnosed Wigan’s strengths and weaknesses during a video review session.

The English club then lined up and played like Wigan do, in a practice match, so that the Roosters could hone their defensive tactics.

Wane admits he’s furious and said: “It’s sad that a Super League team would do that.

“But I take it as a compliment that one of the best teams in the world is asking for help from a Super League team, especially a team that did not manage to beat us in a huge game last year.”

Wane, who masterminded a Grand Final win over Warrington last October, insists Wigan will overcome the setback.

He added: “We will just get on with it. It will now make our game against Warrington more interesting, there is no doubt about that.”

Warrington, who face Wigan at home in Super League on March 20, returned from Australia on Tuesday.

Boss Tony Smith, an Aussie who formerly coached England, said he had no regrets about helping the Roosters.

He said: “We did some training as Wigan and I have no qualms about that. I am not too worried if Wigan are upset.

“Whether they are miffed or not is down to them. If it spurs them on all the better.

“We have a great association with the Roosters and they have hosted us three times when we have been down there.

“They asked us to play in a similar style to Wigan and we were happy to do it. There was a lot to be gained for both teams.”

Smith also warned Wigan that the Roosters look in impressive form ahead of the WCC showdown in Sydney on February 22.

He added: “They look very good, but I’m sure Wigan will be doing their homework on them with the associations they have in the NRL.”

Many older supporters will remember the bad old days of the seventies and eighties when their supporters were not well liked wherever they went. On one occasion in Wigan, smashing up the Royal Oak pub on Standishgate. Under Smith, there has been a re-emergence of that behaviour which does not surprise me as if you have a nasty sod as Coach, the scum will follow!

Remember that day well and it wasn't just the pub. The mob went on the rampage in Standishgate and many stores were forced to close their doors untiluntil the police had the situation under control!

Such a sad little club, travel all that way and no one gives a crap they just want to know about us. It's the RL version of closing your eyes and thinking of Kate Upton

Perhaps Wire should try "lining up like Wigan do" in actual matches next season. Might win summat.

Tony Smith is becoming more and more bitter, he thinks he's the dogs boll@cks as a coach, yet Waney after just two seasons has blown him away. Still, it all adds to the spice.

In all honesty I can see why he has done it a bitter twisted pathetic man who rather than work on his squad so they dont bottle the big games decides to help his aussie mates out.. I really hope we smash both clubs to bits..
