Do we need a big signing?

Post by TonyH »

Pretty hard with the current crop of players around the world settled in to contracts but does anyone think we could do with a big signing from somewhere? Be it overseas or from another SL club?

Totally agree, and I'd like it to be a centre. We seem to be signing average players and trying to improve them to the Wigan standard.

A nice big Inga style centre who can kick would be nice

Me and the wife were just talking about the need for a Gary Connolly type centre.
We used to love seeing him in action: great attack and bone crunching tackles!
So, the answer is YES but who?

An Aussie centre of international stature would be a no go until they finish playing for their country as the selectors don't pick them if they play over here. A kiwi centre would be a decent signing, some people may not agree but I would love Escore from Catalans to sign for us and play full back.

Said that last season Tony. He'd be awesome at Wigan!

Our problem this year is clearly we don't have one, yes one good prop.

As I always say you can win games with very good forwards and poor backs, but you cant win anything with very good backs and poor forwards.

Trent Barrett,if he is playing still, I think he has some unfinished business over here, he would be as awesome as last time in this dumb down Super League era.

Needs a cool head in the centre of the park,

Another thing,

After all the effort of scoring a try, the scoring player expects his efforts to culminate in a goal being kicked, to give a boost to the score, and, his team mates, at the moment that is not happening.

You cannot make a silk purse (Botica), out of a sows ear (Smith)
I do not mean to be disrespectful to Smith, I think he is great at scrum half.

Not enough forward thinking by the management

What we do need is a top class goal kicker.

And why we did not resign Danny Tickle who can kick goals instead of Clubb?

Danny Tickle - not a bad call.
