I wish I was only £1 behind what Wigan have paid Carney whilst he has been injured!

It would be good to get him back for the Bradford match. Heaven help us with Aspi facing old Lesley & co

I recall Aspi and co. doing just fine controlling Lesley when we played them at the JJB. The weak link was the centre on the opposite side.

Robjoenz, completely correct about the Bradford game, Wild and Aspinwall kept Pryce and Vainikolo quiet as church mice, remind me again which centre it was yards out of position when Withers scord the winning try, much as DaveO pushes Vaelaeki he is not going to make it for me, speed speed is the modern game, Hodgson was slow last season because of his achilles injury but as I keep saying the season before on the wing and at centre he was fast enough to be our top try scorer.
You have to wonder about some of the contributors to this site such as the lad who said Hodgson wasn't quick enough for a winger, short memory span I'm afraid.

I've not made my mind up on Vaealiki yet. As I said in my previous post with his size he should be stopping anyone but he just sticks an arm out and expects players to stop and they run past him.

Bradford was probably his worst game defensively, he left the line on several occassions and I don't think Withers late try was the only try he was to blame for. However, in the same game he showed great strength to get over for a couple of tries. Then other times he'll look so weak going forward. Very inconsistent indeed.

I'm hoping his defence will improve and his attacking play will be more consistent. Up to now though I can't understand all the praise he's getting, in a word I would describe his overall play as 'sluggish.'

Hodgson didn't have a good season last year, mainly because we rushed him back too quickly after his achilles injury and after that he wasn't given a chance. At Salford he looks like a winger (he is their no.2), he scores the kind of tries a winger scores, running onto long kicks and being there for his centre. I wanted us to keep hold of him last season and given the choice now between DV and him, I'd go for Hodgy.

He played fullback in their last game. Haven't seen any of the Salford games, except for ours, when he was invisible, so can't really comment, but he's been getting good press reports.
Don't forget, though, that it's easier for him (and Luke) to look good there than it was here.
