FOUR SUPER LEAGUE PLAYERS CHARGED
Four players have been charged with offences commited in First Utility Super League Round 15 fixtures.
Carl Ablett of Leeds Rhinos has been charged with Grade C kicking on Warrington Wolves player Joel Monaghan in the 72nd minute of a match played at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday May 30.
An allegation that Zak Hardaker of Leeds Rhinos made homophobic comments during the same fixture has been referred to the RFL Compliance Department, which has begun a formal investigation.
Hull KR player Michael Weyman has been charged with the Grade B offence of using foul and abusive language towards a match official in the 62nd minute of a fixture played at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday June 1.
Richard Moore of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats has been charged with Grade B striking offence in the 53rd minute of a match against Bradford Bulls at The Provident Stadium on Sunday June 1.
Bradford Bulls player Elliot Kear has been charged with Grade A striking in the 53rd minute of the same fixture. Kear has submitted an Early Guilty Plea.
The RFL Match Review Panel deemed the sending off of London Broncos player Scott Moore to be sufficient following his high tackle on Hull FC player Callum Lancaster in the 32nd minute.
Ablett and Moore have until 11.00am on Tuesday to submitt Early Guilty Pleas. Weyman does not have the option of submitting an EGP and will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening.
The RFL Match Review Panel also issued cautions to the following players:
Matt Diskin (Bradford Bulls) – dangerous contact in 31st minute v Wakefield Wildcats
Eloi Pelissier (Catalan Dragons) – dangerous throw in the 72nd minute v Widnes Vikings

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

That was for questioning referees integrity so it's slightly different, although it's not a playing ban for March. He was actually in a four game ban for doing the same during a game when he did it on the sideline at Leigh.Kittwazzer wrote:http://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/30 ... -two-month

I expect 4 games would be the sort of punishment Hardaker will get although I believe the homophobic aspect is without precedent in terms of a charge actually being made against a player for that.

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

I cannot see how they can ignore this the clip is out there for everyone to see and it open up the flood gates for precedent if they don't do something about it.
This isn't standard abuse of referee which in itself is bad

Re: FOUR SUPER LEAGUE PLAYERS CHARGED
Could somebody clear this up for me please? I didn't think that players were supposed to swear directly at the referee in the first place. Hardaker clearly does this even before he gets to the homophobic bit. Shouldn't he get a ban for insulting the ref anyway?
Re: FOUR SUPER LEAGUE PLAYERS CHARGED
Hardaker is in serious trouble here. The footage is conclusive and the RFL are probably going to look to make an example of him (rightly so) to highlight that this is completely unacceptable not just in our game but in Sport as a whole. It's not like he's got previous exemplary disciplinary record to mitigate with either.
Any perceived lack of action from the RFL will be pounced upon by the media.
One thing that doesn't seem to be being mentioned with regard to making insulting comments to the referee, Carl Ablett quite clearly says "Thats F***ing Bulls**t" to him before Hardakers outburst.
