Smith Thrilled At Wolves Deal
Warrington Wolves head coach Tony Smith admits he is thrilled to have signed a new contract with the club.
The Australian, 47, will stay with Wire until 2016, whilst ex-Wakefield man Richard Agar will join from next season.
And Smith believes he has got unfinished business at the Halliwell Jones Stadium

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

With Agar as first team coach.
Good Grief, I wonder what HullFC and Wakey fans make of that?

For a second, reading the title, I thought Tim Smith was in his way to Wire

Just glad that they are not at the Warriors.
One, I can't stand and the other who can't coach at top level.

Smith has been there far too long.

Are Warrington grooming Agar as his eventual replacement like Wigan did with Wane under McGuire?cpwigan wrote:Smith has been there far too long.
I think might be the case as Smith has said that he would love to coach in the NRL.

Immaterial WW. I believe the head coach should be replaced every 3 years. I do think Agar might be being groomed as a successor but Smith has been there far too long.

Why, if they are doing a good job like Wane?cpwigan wrote:Immaterial WW. I believe the head coach should be replaced every 3 years. I do think Agar might be being groomed as a successor but Smith has been there far too long.
Re: Smith Thrilled At Wolves Deal
I believe 3 years is the optimum period any coach should spend at a club. After 3 years, said coach needs to replenish their batteries/enthusiasm; take a sabbatical and develop their coaching philosophy. The players need some new messages / ideas after 3 years of the same. IIRC, Jack Gibson stated 3 years was the optimum. I know others do / think differently but it is a belief I hold.
