Good curry houses!

Post by The booze hound »

Just been for a sit down at the new Amans on Newton High Street (m6, jct23).Gets a solid 8.5. Just pipped Balti Towers ( which gets an 8) as Newtons best curry.

I know there is an Amans in Lowton St. Luke's and I think there's one in Astley.

Where is the best Ruby House in Wigan town centre?

I like JAMAL which is on Robin Park. Its unlicensed so nice to take a bottle of red in with you.

Chicken Tikka Garlic Balti is a tasty treat and the nan breads are good too.

Starving now. :)

Basmati on Wigan Lane and the take away a few doors away (Moonlight Tandori).

There is also a good one in Newton le Willows on the high st. We sometimes travel from Wigan as it's that good!

the Rivaj Restaurant Mossy Lea Road, Wigan, is a good un. I used to like the Baby Elephant just now im not so keen, not sure why its changed, just has.

I was never out of the Basmati on Wigan lane when my wife was having our little girl, just a few steps from Wigan hospital, she was in for a week and i got fat on Indian food !

Yes we have been to Rivaj too and it is quite good.

The Raj on Woodhouse Lane get lots of positive comments but I have not been for ages. I sometimes park near there and walk across the canal bridge to the match and the smell of curry always makes me hungry.

Moonlight Tandoori is a great takaway and I believe the Basmati which I have been told is owned by them, is also very good.

Personally, I prefer proper Italian (not pasta/pizza) and Chinese to Indian.
