Erred road train hits Wigan

Post by josie andrews »

The Erreà Road Train, an incredible 90 feet long megatruck, will head to Wigan town centre this Wednesday as the Warriors unveil their 2015 playing kits throughout the week.

Images of the 2015 First Team Home Kit will be released tomorrow (Tuesday) and fans will get their first chance to view the new kit in person on Wednesday.

The first ever Wigan Warriors Academy Kit will also be launched at the Erreà Road Train on Standishgate at 3:30pm.

Marketing Director Simon Collinson said:

"What better way to celebrate the launch of the 2015 kits with our new Kit and Retail Partner Erreà. Having seen the Erreà Road Train I am really excited about this coming to Wigan, it is a monumental truck that will certainly wow anyone that visits.

"Fans will get their first up close view of the 2015 First Team Home Kit whilst they can also look at all of the other quality products that we now have available.

"We will also be exclusively unveiling our first ever Warriors Academy kit that will be worn by the Club's Academy teams next season."

Visitors to the Road Train will be able to enter a competition to win a new Wigan Warriors First Team Home Shirt. Santa and his elves will be on hand to give our presents to Wigan fans whilst Wigan Warriors players will also attend in the afternoon.

The Erreà Road Train will be on Standishgate based near Marks & Spencer.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Hope they're better than that god-awful 'camouflage' training gear! Won't be buying any of that stuff!

Only gripe i have is with the coral logo, you'd have thought they'd off had less blue and/or put a white outline around it, otherwise it is a tasty bit of kit

Smart shirt. Will it be available to pre-order so that it will arrive in time for Christmas?

Warriors Unveil 2015 Home Kit

Wigan Warriors and Erreà have today released the first images of the brand new home kit that will be worn by the Warriors in 2015.

The new shirt reverts to a very traditional Cherry and White design, inspired by the shirt worn 50 years ago in the 1965 Challenge Cup Final win over Hunslet; a game widely regarded as one of the best Finals of all time. In tribute to the game the shirt features narrow Cherry & White hoops with the famous Wigan Crest on a black patch. For the first time in five years the replica kit will adorn a black collar, an element which has been specifically requested by fans over recent years. The shirt will be complemented by white shorts and Cherry & White hooped socks.

Speaking about the new kit Rugby General Manager Kris Radlinski said:

"We are delighted to be launching our first home kit with Erreà. We are really happy with the design and quality of the new shirt, which takes inspiration from the 1965 Challenge Cup winning side. It is great that we can celebrate 50 years since that memorable game."

Full Back Matty Bowen, who earlier this week met 1965 joint Lance Todd Trophy winner and Wigan Full Back Ray Ashby, was delighted with the shirt:

"It was an honour to meet Ray and hear his stories from his days as a player.

"It's great that the Club can revert to such a traditional design and one that is inspired by the boys who wore the shirt 50 years ago. We started pre-season training again this week and can't wait to pull on the famous shirt in the New Year, and hopefully we can write our own history into the record books."

The new First Team home shirt will be available to purchase from Friday 19th December, exclusively from Warriors World, and is designed and produced by Official Technical Partner Erreà. It will feature new Main Club Partner Coral across the chest with Magners Irish Cider and Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd on each sleeve, whilst Caliper Engineering, Light Distribution and Brockwells Forestry are prominent on the back. The shorts feature both Maximuscle and Multipave logos. All logos are sublimated into the design, apart from the Club crest which has been embroidered to a very high specification, befitting the heritage of the famous logo.

Commenting about the launch date Commercial Director Geoff Warburton explained:

"We only received confirmation on a number of shirt sponsors relatively late and because of previous fan feedback we took the decision to only press ahead with shirt production once all sponsors had been confirmed. This meant we could ensure all sponsors logos could be sublimated into the design rather than leaving gaps and applying patches at a later date.

"We appreciate this has pushed the on-sale date closer to Christmas than we would have liked, but took this important decision to ensure that the garment quality is as high as it could possibly be. I would specifically like to thank Erreà for their commitment to producing a vast number of shirts in such a short space of time."

The shirt is the first of three set to be used by the Warriors in 2015. The first ever Warriors Academy shirt will be launched tomorrow when the incredible Erreà Road Train will be stopping on Standishgate in Wigan Town Centre to showcase the new ranges of Wigan and Erreà products. The new First Team Away kit will be launched later this week.
