Interesting to see Mo's comments about the constraints the cap has put on Wigan signing any replacement players to ease our injury woes.
Last year Leeds exited the cup in the early rounds and promptly signed Leuatiti(? spelling).
Apparently they could fit him in under the salary cap because they had saved £75k in percieved cup bonus payments to the players. Thus allowing them to spend this on 1 player's wages for the next 6 months.
So, lose at the W/E and all is not gloom and doom at Wigan because we ought to be able to sign 1 or 2 top class players.
This is he sort of move that Lindsey was once famous for. Quick thinking and sharp accounting to benefit the paying speccies at the club. Compared to Hethrington he appears a tired old man who's had his day!
Creative Accounting?

So Leeds got knocked out of the cup and this was a good thing because they could sign a player?Doveoverdave posted:

OK........how come all the other clubs who get knocked out aren't signing players because they don't have to pay bonuses?
I can see it now, "Don't win the game lads, if you do and we pay you a bonus we will break the salary cap".
The world has gone mad.
