WARRIORS v WIGAN ATHLETIC

Post by Pride Of Wigan »

Whoever came up with that topic must be really sad.
Were a different sport, dont you realise that. I for one would much rather see a Wigan shirt in Wigan, be that blue or red, than a Man Utd one.
Its not Warriors v Latics, its Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc v Latics.
Its Warriors v Leeds, St Helens, Bradford etc.

Just to confirm a few points which i have read on this Warriors v Latics crap:
1. Capacity for a football match is 23,500 due to crowd segregation.
2. Both Latics and Warriors have a 10 year lease on the JJB Stadium.
3. Both sports can play on the ground despite us being Premiership.
4. The East Stand couldnt be used by home supporters yesterday after advice from our "friends" GMP.
5. The North stand is the family stand for a football match which is why the away fans couldnt be given this stand.

Fair enough but it won't change which shirt I'm wearing. Wigan Warriors and Man Utd since I was little and till I die.
I agree and have already said this in the other post that we're a different sport, as have many on here, Latics promotion doesn't make them better than Wigan Warriors vice versa for any challenge cups and any other cups we've won in the last 100 years because we're not competiting against each other. Doesn't change who I support though, when Latics play Arsenal or Chelsea etc I'll be cheering on the team that helps out Uniteds position most, just the way it is.

Good luck to the Latics though, let's get this town recognised as a succesful and friendly town in both sports.

Mrs Lam I agree with your sentiments about cheering for the team that assists your (supported) team the most.(that make sense?)

Then like me you'd have been cheering Saints on as they "stole" the points of the Wolves, and Leigh as they helped our position by taking points of Wakey.

Well done Mrs Lam I knew the halo had some significance. :)

Erm I'm not really sure other than my house! I normally either go watch it at my boyfriends or stay in with my family and watch games. Trying to think wheres best, the Bees Knees has games on but can't guarantee that there won't be a load of scousers in there :s

I would say the walkabout, berkley square, orange house or cherry gardens on Wigan Lance usually has far few Man Utd fans in! Depends if you want to be in town or just outside! Everywere pretty safe especially if your heading straight out after the match, trouble usually starts in town couple of hours afterwards when everyones had way to much to drink and there donner kebabs are giving them heart burn.....turn into a narky lot then!
