Justin Carney
Cas supporter on the other forum is saying that Wigan has agreed to sign him for 2017 (after his 12 months loan spell at Salford).

Re: Justin Carney
With Sarginson likely to depart end of 2016 it makes a lot of sense. We'd then have six SL quality players for the five back positions.
Sam T, Manfredi, Gelling, Carney, Gildart & Charnley.
Carney can play either wing or centre.
No one will try and bully our younger players with Carney out there with his in your face aggression.
Up to the coaching staff to get the best out of him.

Would be a very interesting move if true. I'd like to see that happening - he'd certainly add some entertainment value to our back line, if we could keep his suspensions down to a minimum.

The word 'player' as in on the pitch, due to his strong running style, aggressive defence and never say die attitude!Whelley Warrior wrote:Since when has a troublemaker like Carney been a SW player?TrueBlueWarrior wrote:He is certainly a SW type player!!

What happens off the pitch is a whole new world where Wigan would have to make a balanced decision about whether he is worth the baggage.

Re: Justin Carney
Very exciting news if true.
I do not expect us to get any confirmation of this however mid-season.
This will surely coincide with the Charnley rumours? Doesn't make sense to sign Carney with Sarginson leaving.
1 - Tomkins
2 - Manfredi
3 - Gildart
4 - Gelling
5 - Carney
Charnley and Sarginson to leave... Could leave us a little light if we have injuries however, unless we keep hold of Tierney a back up winger/fullback with Tomkins/Bateman as back up centres?
Still think we would become very week with an injury to one of the above.

In your scenario I think you've missed Higginson as the back up centre/winger.nathan_rugby wrote:Very exciting news if true.

I don't really want Carney. I don't trust him enough - which is saying something when I'm a big supporter of Gelling!

Don't really feel comfortable naming Higginson as a back up wing/centre when he hasn't yet made his first team debut and hasn't proved he can handle the step up.markill wrote:In your scenario I think you've missed Higginson as the back up centre/winger.nathan_rugby wrote:Very exciting news if true.
