Sam....!

Post by TrueBlueWarrior »

I don't care if he has lost a yard of pace due to his injuries, what he does bring to the team which is more important in my opinion is control, desire, brain, voice, options, assists and tries!! He will make us a better team no doubt, whether the others around him step up remains to be seen!!

What he does is rather simple. He creates fear as he has pace off the mark and keeps it going. He has the ability to go through a gap which frightens defenders to death. So they will back off at times and that leads to space for others. Given his passing skills it creates tries as well. As you said its up to others to step up to his level.

He is just a very clever RL player gimble, something sadly lacking in SL!!

NZW have missed his link play massively since hus injury/departure.
I would have him captain over lickers personally.
I thought him and blake green lead the team verbally in the past

In Sam's last season here before heading to NZ, he WAS the attack once it got to second pass. The ability to read the defensive shape at pace is something only a few in Superleague truly have and is pretty uncoachable.

Class act, he makes us look so much better. Dom and Josh will start to score more tries as the season goes on.

Hi defensive solidity seems to have improved as well. Positionally very good, comfortable under the bomb, and his decision making is good to see as a Wigan fan. Can only help the rest of the side as well having him on the pitch.

There is no doubt that the Wigan side with Sam in it was a much more cohesive unit than we saw earlier in the season. It was great to be at Newcastle and watch us put together moves and actually see them come off.
Sam was talking and organising all the time. That allowed our half backs to look like half backs - which sadly hasn't always been the case. Yes it was only the team at the bottom of the table, and you can only play what's there. But this did look and feel better. Let's hope we can carry on.
We'll need to against Cas - they were very good!

It's a shame he seems to have lost that electric pace he had but he still has a lot to offer!

I still think he would be better in the halves but I think you just want him in the team anywhere really.

I was worried he would be.a crock but it looks like he won't be and I'm looking forward to seeing him with 5-10 games under his belt and where he is at.

Like others have said the main thing he creates is hesitation, all good players do this, the defence don't know what to do they know if they press him he will side step, if they sit back he will find a pass or kick. He has the ability to ifluence tries without touching the ball just by running a dangerous line
