Could he be worth a try at centre?, hes got ok pace decent handling and has proved in this stint at hooker his defense is solid enough?
There's been a long history of centres and half backs interchanging and personally id prefer that over a second row
Just a thought

Powell
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
Re: Powell
Even if it's a second row that started out as a centre
Re: Powell
We know he'll work his socks off to do the best he can wherever we play him. Any utility value he can add to his game that means he can stay in our squad is a positive for me - as we can't keep them all unfortunately!

Re: Powell
Not a centre for the same reasons he is not a half-back. Passing is too 'loopy' and slow and he delays when faced with multiple options. Compare him with Gildart and you can see the difference.
Powell is an excellent squad player but if everyone was fit, he wouldn't be in the team. He didn't seem to learn from early problems like, say, Logan, for example, who went on loan and came back with passing and decision-making improved. Apparently SW didn't notice the fact, however.

True, he is also comfortably a better player than Logan, glad SW noticed that!!cpwigan wrote:He is the player of the season for Wigan IMO but never a centre in the memoryof man.

Re: Powell
We've needed an 80 min hooker for years, now we have one.
Can MM and TL step up to that?
I hope so as some time Powell will kop a knock and miss a few games.

Re: Powell
Powell is a ex. Academy International Scrum Half who was outstanding in the two test games against the Australian Academy, which were both played at Leigh around three seasons ago.
A player who can play both half back positions and Hooker, but never at Centre.
Good member of the squad, as as been shown more so in the absence of Mcllorum.
