Leigh swoop for Jarryd Hayne?

Post by butt monkey »

Reports are suggesting that Leigh could be about to pull off one of the most unlikely signings of all time with Jarryd Hayne strongly linked to the club.
It is being said that the former Australian international could sign a lucrative short term deal with the Centurions for the Super 8s Qualifiers as the club bid to make the jump to Super League.

Leigh Centurions sign Danny Tickle, agree deal to bring in Antoni Maria

Leigh Centurions have signed back-rower Danny Tickle on a deal to the end of the 2017 season and agreed to sign Antoni Maria from the Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal from next season.

Tickle, 33, who joined Castleford on a short-term deal in April, will make the move to the Championship club with immediate effect on a contract that runs to the end of the 2017 season.

He has made 378 Super League appearances in a 16-year career for Halifax, Wigan, Hull, Widnes and Castleford and will be a timely addition for the Centurions as they prepare for the Super 8s Qualifiers.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Surely not. This would be an unbelievable coup. How they'd pull it off and stay under the cap I have no idea!

Presume Markill, as it's only a few matches (7+) it will only be a percentage of the annual cap.
Leigh also released Rangi Chase to Cas, so there'd be a fair bit freed up there.
