Completely unacceptable

Post by Ed Osmond »

I cannot fault the effort of the players.
But the team is a shambles. We have no idea how to play attacking rugby league. The only hope of a try is a bit of magic from Williams or Gelling. It is not about Smith or O'Loughin or anyone else. Wane needs to take a long hard look at himself.

He does take a long hard look at himself and believes he is doing it right and the fans are wrong. He's too thick to know that he is the problem and needs to be on his way. I have stuck up for him in the past, but not anymore. If he had any thought for our club at all he would go and go quickly.

Wane is so pig headed that he is never and has never been to blame.

We won't win anything again and the fans are unhappy with
the standard of football. Sean's failed and he should be thanked for his commitment and politely sacked.

That hits the nail on the head we can't keep playing a full team of young academy lads without any experienced players.

We can't keep penny pinching, & that is what we as a club are doing & have been doing for a few years & it's not since Madge left or Wane took over either it's two someone elses IMO
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

But Why?
We have a really good squad of players.
But as an attacking force we are poor. No game plan beyond a kick to the corner on last tackle. How can Lenaghan be happy with that? I do not understand.

The penny pinching should not be a problem given the standard of the league and the players and resources we have. Even Hull and Wire are quite beatable.

Granted there are positions we can all point to which we'd like to see improvement in players but it's plain to see we could do far better with what we have with some decent coaching. We don't even do the basics right and if we just did that we'd probably have a few more wins this season and a better points difference.

Glad to see Wane has been asked by the press if he's vulnerable. He has given the impression he's been living in a dream world where he isn't the one who carries any responsibility for the poor performances. It's always poor execution in one way or another and never any acknowledgement he's the one responsible for getting the players trying to execute the the wrong tactics.

Therein lies the big question; IL and decisive action. IMO, dropping attendances and no prize money will be the driving force if any for him to take action. Unfortunately, IL has a history or running contracts down rather than sack employees and pay them a settlement.

SL is dreadful, let's not kid ourselves and IMO there is a correlation between standards and ever increasing numbers of British coaches. Wane inherited an excellent game plan but clearly hated it and felt he could do better. In the short term the utopian RL that Wane believes paid off. It could be argued he did as well, even better than Maguire in his final season. Teams should do better year on year given how much has been invested in the playerts conditioning etc etc. Unfortunately as Wane dispensed with the strategy left he had no understanding or coaching intelligence as to how to move forwards. So, he has relied on Waneball which largely tries to go around teams and/or use the same tired sinvariably second man plays and is contrary to RL logic. Teams simply study and plan their defensive approach with ridiculous ease. The Widnes game defied EVERY RL fundamental 'law' created but the tedious game plan is so awful Widnes could negate it with ease.

Injuries? Arguably do not help ANY TEAM. However, the Wane game plan leads to injuries to Wigan players and at no point do Wigan look to turn a corner. Leeds have had an awful time re injuries BUT as the season ended, the 8's began Leeds with more players returning became outstanding again. Thurston would not be the worlds greatest halfback following the Wane philosophy.

Apparently he bleeds Cherry and White; well Wane is the one thrusting the knife into Wigan but is far too pig headed to realise it or walk.

Delusion
Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane cut a frustrated figure following their 8-6 defeat to Widnes Vikings on Thursday night: before cutting short his own post-match press conference.

Wane was speaking after a disappointing performance from the Warriors in which, despite winning 20 penalties throughout the course of the night and seeing Widnes reduced to 11 men at one point, they could only muster one try courtesy of forward Liam Farrell.

And when asked for his assessment of his side’s performance, Wane pulled no punches.

He said: “We lacked composure and our game-management was off in the final third, which was disappointing. “I’m very angry.”

Then, in the closing stages of his press conference, the Wigan coach was asked whether he felt under pressure after the defeat.

He replied: “I don’t know what you mean. If we win tonight, we’re top of the league… we’ve got six players out. “There’s no other club where that question would be asked. I’ll see you.”

The Warriors coach then left the press conference.
Worse, he keeps running when anybody challenges him. Sky and the press.

When a coach starts to duck questions from the media then the end isn't far off
