Re: Williams to Wire

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

He's only just signed a 4 year deal last season.
Tell Wire Williams isn't for sale and they'd be better off developing their own players.

No way, the only way George will leave Wigan is for the NRL.

Have to agree, and I think that'll happen soon too.

Just wondering is there any player of Wigans Wire aren't in for?

What if Wire offer him 400k a year. We can not do that as we are tied to Sam for marquee.

There is usually no smoke without fire, yet if every rumour came true there would be no such things as rumours anymore!!

Bring forward Danny Maguire 22 years old now.

Wire offer Leeds massive fee for him what would Hetherington say. If IL lets Williams go then we have a problem as club we become a selling club. Something Leeds Rhinos are not, unless they want rid.

Exactly. No doubt someone will say they contracts are worthless but they rarely seem to have been at Leeds.

IL has to be careful here. If Wire do make such an offer he can hardly accept it because "he doesn't want to stand in the way of the player" otherwise he may as well sell the entire squad.

Even a less well off club like Wakefield could make an offer to double the wages of one of our lesser lights and make them their "marquee" player on £100K if you see what I mean.

It seems pretty clear Williams has been earmarked as a key player for us going forward, someone to build the team around and if you sell such a key player then the coach is on a hiding to nothing and the fans won't be queuing for season tickets regardless of winning the GF.

Totally agree with you.

Like you say if Williams goes what is stopping Saints taking Bateman. IL needs to draw a line in the sand and say honour you contract.

Dont forget though the way they structured Batemans contract last year in his final year he is open to talk to NRL clubs at the very least.

I think the Williams to wire rumour is nonsense but the club will lose him to the Aussies in the next couple of years of that in sure
