Test match in Avignon

Post by ian.birchall »

Does anyone know if the match is available to watch on any UK outlet?

Looking on my Virgin box I now see that it is on BBC at 5-15pm. Problem solved.

I think it's Gale and Widdop to be 6 & 7 (Ratchford on bench). No place for Williams in the 19 though.

Four Nations 2016: BBC to show warm-up match against France live

James Graham will captain England in France as Sam Burgess serves a suspension
France v England

Venue: Parc des Sports, Avignon Date: Saturday, 22 October Kick-off: 17:30 BST

BBC TV coverage: BBC Red Button, Connected TV and online
England's Four Nations rugby league warm-up match against France on Saturday will be shown live by the BBC.

Wayne Bennett's side face the hosts at the Parc des Sports in Avignon, with the match shown on the BBC Red Button, Connected TV and the BBC Sport website.

It is Bennett's first game in charge, having taking over from Steve McNamara in February.

England begin their Four Nations campaign against New Zealand on 29 October, with live coverage on BBC One.

Australia and Scotland are the other two teams taking part in the tournament.
Sorry I've not got the link, on my mobile
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Saw an article somewhere with Bennett saying he wanted to give the Warrington and Wigan GF squads an extra weeks break. Therefore he was playing 5 debutants against France to gauge their performance, in case they were needed later in the Tournament.

Even Farrell and Ratchford who were in the 17, he was saying would be on the bench and available to use if required. I don't think this team will be the same next week against New Zealand, from what he was saying.

Apart from the forthcoming four nations tournament the interest must be on Romain Navarette's performance for France

Massive hit on Graham apart he appears to struggle to put players down on his own. Technique or lack of upper body strength we shall see, but he will be put through it at Wigan in the off season to improve on that area

Compared to the props we have you'd have to rate him as a work in progress. On a level with Bretherton? but not as accomplished as Crosby. Not very big either. He's young and clearly a Wane project. He must see something that I don't but that's why he's the coach and I'm just a fan.
