Wigan trio make list of top 20 Super League Players of 2016
List compiled by Rugby League World Magazine
Gareth Ellis tops list with Cooper Cronk named Golden Boot winner
Josh Charnley, John Bateman and George Williams have been named in Rugby League World’s top 20 Super League players of 2016.
The trio have made the list of players who are deemed to have made the biggest impact on the league during 2016.
Departed winger Charnley comes in at 17th with Bateman 10th and Williams 6th. 35-year-old Gareth Ellis takes the top spot with fellow Hull FC player and 2016 Man of Steel winner Danny Houghton fourth.
Cooper Cronk was named Golden Boot winner seeing off Melbourne teammate Cameron Smith, James Taumalolo and Darius Boyd to take the prestigious gong for the first time.
Australia dominate the world team of the year with ten representatives including Cronulla winger Valentine Holmes who Wigan fans will hope to get a glimpse of at the DW Stadium in February. James Graham was England’s sole representative after another strong year with Canterbury.
