Ticket Sales - WCC

Post by si_bax »

I just had a look on Wigan's eticketing site for the WCC and there seems to be quite a few tickets still to sell. I thought that this game would already be well on its way to a sell out.

I have noticed more advertisements for the game as of late, wonder if the club are starting to worry about ticket sales as well?

I might be wrong, but I think this is an RFL event than a club event as such. Either way I'm not sure a sell out is ever OK the cards. Having five other Super League clubs plus all Championship playing over the weekend takes away from the neutral appeal.

realistically then, what do we think would be a good crowd for this game?

For the Brisbane game in 2015 we got 20,842 and then 19,103 in 2016. Both of these games were 'exhibition' games and still had a decent draw.

I would hope that we would get at least 20,000 for the game in a few weeks

We should be selling this game out or as close to it as possible.

Doesn't matter if its an RFL game or not. Its the biggest game we as a club can be involved in and everyones aware of it.

It was a sell out v St George and it should be against Cronulla.

I agree entirely with the above, this is a prestigious cup to win and ticket sales should mirror that. Hopefully the current ticket sales are because of christmas and that more should be sold after Jan pay day

Its the first home game of the season too.

If we have a 10k crowd against Widnes the week after then so be it.

DW should be packed out and rocking against cronulla.

I think 20,000 should be a benchmark at the moment but it'll be intriguing to see what the figure is.

Looking at the current ticket sales it will be nowhere near the 20,000 mark! There is some serious advertising to be done here.

Unfortunately it's also the Sunday before half term. There is 8 of us who would be there that will be away.

It's the same for the Widnes game too.
