Seen LB play a few times and have seen nothing exciting.

But mid-season what did we all expect as a loan signing?

Leeds wanted to keep him! Yeah right.
Why would he come to us if he could make the Leeds team who are on the verge of honours?

Medals (rings!) are a rare commodity in an RL career with only 2 pots to play for (have they changed this for the "minor" prem?) and virtually no international scene to speak of.

Phil Clarke's been raving about him for a while now, and he's a pretty good judge of a player (unlike his co-commentators)
This from his Sky column on April 21st...

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/arti ... 74,00.html
"One award that I'd like to see introduced is for the most improved player.
My vote at this stage of the season would go to Liam Botham...
At 27 years of age he's a late comer to top level rugby league but his intelligence coupled with his attitude, nurtured in a winning environment at Leeds, have helped him to improve dramatically."

Can he keep improving in a non winning environment to make us a winning environment though? That's the kind of player we need right now.

That's what worries me...but if he's inherited any of his Dad's attitude, that'll do for me!

Phil Clarke says
GB team was always strengthened by the presence of players from rugby union.

Men like Peter Williams, Paul Moriarty, Jonathan Griffiths, Alan Bateman, Kevin Ellis and Jonathan Davies to mention just some.

Lots have been said about Eorl Crabtree. Is he the future front rower for GB?
[/quote]

He continues....
Can Nick Fozzard or Darryl Griffiths maintain a presence on the field that makes it impossible not to be selected?
There are so few comps, players and internatonal matches in RL that the pundits have little to write about or dicuss without talking about a very few select players.

Why talk about LB as possible GB material when Leeds have younger, obviously better players who actualy make the team?
Tony Smith has another opinion no doubt!

Fair point, dave, although Poching and Lauatiti aren't eligible for GB.
