M6 has a 4 hour traffic delay on it.
anyone with smart sat Navs should be redirected but
i thought id let you all know.
info from a smart (live updating) Sat Nav so may change if traffic improves.

Bad accident on M1 (hull fc site). glad I travelled yesterday.

Not sure if it's the M6 or M1 you are referring to.
Just checked the Traffic England site and M6 seems fine other than the usual roadworks BUT M1 is CLOED J15 to J14 southbound

M1 | Buckinghamshire | Southbound | Incident | Road Closed
The M1 in Buckinghamshire is closed southbound between J15 (Northampton South) and J14 (Milton Keynes) due to a serious collision involving 3 vehicles. Thames Valley Police are on scene and will be carrying out full accident investigation works.
Trapped traffic is currently being released past the scene in 1 lane. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
Traffic is being diverted via the hollow circle symbol. Motorists are to exit at J15 and take the A508 southbound. Continue through Roade and Grafton Regis to the A508/A5/A422 Roundabout. Exit onto the A5 and continue to the A5/A509 Interchange, take the A509 and travel through North Grafton, Belvedere, North Overgate, and Pineham to re-join the M1 at J14.
Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

If I were you id come off at J18 and head South on the A5 through towcester and Milton keynes, getting back into the M1 at J9 - this is a major roads that bypasses the M1 diversion and gets you off the M1 before the backed up traffic
Or come of at J18 and head on the A428 through northampton, then pick up the A509 getting you back in at J14[/b]

An alternative route is to come off the m6 onto the m6 toll, then m42 down to the m40, which usually flows far better than the m1.
Saying that, there seems to be some traffic on the m42 near Solihull, but that's always the case.
Hope you all get there safe and in plenty of time.

8 dead several injured in M1 crash. Two HGV drivers arrested. All dead believed to be in a minibus.
