Dave Alred used fo coach Joe Lydon well before he started coaching Wilkinson. I remember Lydon developed into a very good long range kicker, something we haven't had in a long time.
It does make you wonder why this isn't standard practice as it's such a fundamental part of the game.

Joe lydon could kick long but he wasnt the most accurate kicker
