So we know we are getting a new coach, weve yet to find out who that is. We know we wont have tomkins and we know we are likely to find ourselves without bateman and sutton as it stands. Lockers and Tommy are questionable if they could/should go around again.

2019 is probably going to be the biggest year for Wigan since the last huge transition in 2005 that nearly ended with us being relegated.

What are peoples thoughts assuming the new coach is not going to be Winder who IMO would just keep to Wanes textbook.

I think it will be interesting to see how a new coach would look at the likes of Powell, Sarge and J.Tomkins.

Would a new coach demand investment in the team? ala Wire after Tony Smith? or be expected to run with what Wane had?

There would have to be some sort investment in the team no matter who gets the job. You can't loose Tomkins, Bateman, Sutton and probably Tommy without replacement. As for Lockers then I think this depends on who the new coach is, if its someone like Edwards, then I think he might become his full time assistant, if someone like Tony Smith maybe not and he'll play on.

As for the other players, then this also depends on who the coach is. If its an ex back then Powell might benefit from some specialised coaching. Tomkins and Isa are both steady forwards, maybe not always first choice but would do a job.

Most people on here have been bored of our play for the last couple of years. Hopefully a change of coach and a change of some influential players could lead to a different style of play. I know some people have a downer on IL, but he knows the best way to balance the books is to bring more money in and the only way to increase season ticket holders is to offer them excitement. A new coach could do this, but not of its Winder.

Exciting times ahead, think this website could be very busy over the next few months.

Assuming it is not Winder who as said might just carry on with Wane's textbook then I think all bets are off for all the players - in a positive way.

With a new coach we might find we see something better from the likes of Powell. I am not entirely convinced of that because basic skills (or lack of them) are hard to coach but I am looking forward to see what a new coach can do anyway.

I think the new coach will clear out our props. They worked for Wane's style of play but another coach will want them to act as proper props.
Lockers just for his experience will be safe plus a fit Lockers even at his age is by far our best player.

With the continuing moves to reduce the number of interchanges perhaps a smaller, more mobile pack of forwards with greater endurance is the way to go, in which case we may be ahead of the field.

As for being ahead of the field, getting bullied in the pack by almost ever other side is never good.

You really believe fans prefer to watch props bashing each other than fast, elusive players playing open exciting Rugby? I hope you never have a say in the future of RL.

So you prefer small props avoiding tackles instead of big hitting props? Try going to a game and see what gets the crowd going (I don't mean the West stand)
