...and yes MrsCarney, I am left handed and left footed!

Ahh, but the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice-versa!adrenalinxx posted:
Are left footed goal kickers better than right footed kickers. I was told that the part of the brain that controls the left side of the body also controls co-ordination so people who are left handed/footed have better co-ordination.

Re: Goalkickers
If left handed people are more intelligent shouldn't we say "thats left" insted of "thats right".
Do people who are ambidextrous have super hunam intelligence?
We actually only use half of our brain so that can't be true. Left handed people are also better at drawing then right handed people.Ahh, but the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice-versa!

Actually, it is true:adrenalinxx posted:We actually only use half of our brain so that can't be true. Left handed people are also better at drawing then right handed people.Ahh, but the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice-versa!

AlsoThe nerves cross going to the brain, so the right motor area controls the left side of the body, such as the left hand. Left-handed people operate from the right side of the brain.
Injuries or strokes on the right side of the brain make the left side of the body paralyzed.
There is some evidence that if you can balance the influence of both sides of your brain you can more learning potential:adrenalinxx posted:

If we are 100% right brained how can we be using the left side of our brain because that would mean the total brain would be 200% which is impossible. In essence, animals are 100% "right-brained
Re: Goalkickers
Try utilising a greater percentage of your brain and think about the meaning of the percentage in the statement.adrenalinxx posted:

Re: Goalkickers
Let me help you out here.Try utilising a greater percentage of your brain and think about the meaning of the percentage in the statement.
Total Brain = 100%
Right Side of the Brain = 100%
Left Side of the Brain = 0%
Therefore the left side of the brain can't control movement of the righ side of the body because its is 0% means it does nothing. If we did use the left hand side of the brain then the percentage would be 50/50 or 25/75 etc.
You are obviously one of the many people who would benefit from being able to use both sides of the brain.
