Can't argue with you being married to a Leyther, my wife's from Yorkshire.ancientnloyal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:10 pm With Tez it was the first game I took my Leyther girlfriend to. She is now my wife.
Vince Moss was the referee, lost complete control.morley pie eater wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:27 pmCan't argue with you being married to a Leyther, my wife's from Yorkshire.ancientnloyal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:10 pm With Tez it was the first game I took my Leyther girlfriend to. My oldest lad is now 42. The first match I took him to was at Fartown when we were in the 2nd division. I think there were 6 players sent off! Eddie Bowman and Alan(?) Hodgkinson were our props. A black lad in 2nd row for Huddersfield copped a clothes-line tackle - I'm sure he spun round a couple of times.
I remember thinking "What am I doing bringing a 3 or 4 year old to this?"
When we got home, his mum asked him what happened at the match. He said "The linesman had a pencil in his sock"!
Think it's on YouTube, or at least it was.Great grandad Harry ball wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:15 pmVince Moss was the referee, lost complete control.morley pie eater wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:27 pmCan't argue with you being married to a Leyther, my wife's from Yorkshire.ancientnloyal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:10 pm With Tez it was the first game I took my Leyther girlfriend to. Nicky Kiss, Les Bolton walked, think the third was Alan Hodgkinson.
Unusually for those days the game was televised, think by Granada.
I'd liked to have seen that.No straw damn us wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:42 pmHe did, a few years later when he played for Leeds at Headingley . Tyrer picked him out and chipped the ball to him. Tyrer and half the Wigan pack hit him with everything legal and illegal, Hepworth got everything he deserved.shaunedwardsfanclub wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 3:42 pmI don’t think Hepworth played against Wigan again.
Yes, I remember it being on ITV. Maybe Keith Macklin commentating?Great grandad Harry ball wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:15 pmVince Moss was the referee, lost complete control.morley pie eater wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:27 pmCan't argue with you being married to a Leyther, my wife's from Yorkshire.ancientnloyal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:10 pm With Tez it was the first game I took my Leyther girlfriend to.
