21-man squad vs Salford
Adrian Lam names 21-man squad to face Salford Red Devils in the Betfred Super League
Two changes as Partington and Flower are replaced by youngsters McDonnell & Rushton
Salford Red Devils vs Wigan Warriors, Friday 13th March, AJ Bell Stadium, K.O. 3pm
Adrian Lam has named his Wigan Warriors 21-man squad to face Salford Red Devils this Friday at the AJ Bell Stadium (K.O. 7:45pm).
The Cherry & Whites will face Ian Watson’s side in Round 7 of the Betfred Super League; a tie which will see the two clubs clash for the first time since 2019’s Semi-Final at the DW Stadium.
Wigan head into Friday’s fixture off the back of four successive wins. Salford, in contrast, head into the game off the back of four straight defeats.
Team news
Young back-rowers James McDonnell and Harry Rushton are named in their first ever first-team 21-man squad and will take 36 and 37 as their squad numbers respectively.
Forward Ben Flower is unavailable after receiving a 2-match penalty notice for Grade C Dangerous Contact versus Hull KR last week.
Prop Ollie Partington also misses out after receiving a penalty notice following last week’s tie with Hull KR for a Grade D referred to tribunal.
Experienced forward Tony Clubb is not risked for a second week after picking up a shoulder knock against Huddersfield in Round 5.
Sean O’Loughlin remains unavailable as he recovers from an eye injury picked up vs Toronto Wolfpack in Round 3.
Oliver Gildart continues his recovery from a dislocated shoulder sustained last Autumn on Great Britain’s tour of New Zealand. He is expected to return in mid-to-late April.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: 21-man squad vs Salford
Rushton, McDonnell, Bibby and J Burgess to miss out.
French,
Manfredi, Hardaker, Hankisnon, Marshall,
Hastings, Smith,
Bullock, Powell, Clark,
Isa, Farrell,
Smithies.
Burgess, Byrne, Clark, Leuluai.
That's a big set of props so let's let them have a go.
Time for Smith to start with TL on the bench.

Mistake there, mentioned Clark twice, should be Havard on the bench.
